This Municipality was perhaps the one that sent the largest number of emigrants to almost every corner of the world.

The Municipal Holiday is celebrated on the 24th of June, São. João Day, in accordance with the resolution of the Municipal Assembly.

It is during this period that the county's festivities take place and for a week various activities are promoted, fromexhibitions to concerts and initiatives of a sporting nature.
